At Chuwar Baptist Church, our core beliefs are stated as follows 

 WE BELIEVE: 

1.That the Bible/Scriptures are from God. 

2 Timothy 3:16-17 English Standard Version (ESV)

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Proverbs 30:5

“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him”.

2. We believe in the Trinity - the Father/Son/Spirit.

Matthew 11:27

“All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him”.

John 14:10

“Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works”.

John 3:5-6

“Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit”.

3. We believe in the work of the Spirit, as being regenerative, indwelling, manifesting spiritual gifts to edify the Church.

John 14:16-17

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

2 Corinthians 3:17

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

4. We believe the body of Christ is the church, made up of many members.

Romans 12:4-5

For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

Ephesians 4:16

From whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. 

5. We believe in the need for Salvation of all mankind; the repentance from our sinful self. 

Acts 2:21 

And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 3:19

Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 10:9-10

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

6. We believe in community and are a missional church.  

Acts 1:8  

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

John 3:17

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Matthew 5:15

Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
